Some things are beyond words... A friend of mine just lost her 1st grandson. Her daughter's 2nd child.... I have no words of comfort for that. So I told her if there was anything that she needed, to just call. ( However, my friend Alice, who lost her infant son a couple of years ago, Did have wordsof comfort for her.) Don't try to speak on what you don't know in the name of comfort. Silence isn't a bad form of sympathy.
I ask if they need anything/ let them know I’m there if they need anything. I don’t know what else to say honestly, I don’t mind being asked if I’m ok, IF they actually care.
I would say a few things not to say: "I know how you feel" "How did they die?" Don't try to compare experiences unless I ask you for advice on how to cope. I kinda want to be left alone as well. Just go with the vibe, read the room. Ask them what they need and that's it
🤣🤣🤣
This is tricky for me. I feel like the reason I never know what to say is because I don’t be wanting anyone to say anything to me. Lol like tell me you’re sorry and you’re here for me and leave me be! 🥴 so I never know what to say to other people.
