The problem is society puts so much pressure on surprise proposals. No. Talk to your partner ahead of time about marriage, talk about whether you both want rings, go shopping for rings, etc. My first marriage didn’t have rings because both of us hated jewelry and my exwife didn’t want us to waste money on something she’d never use. We used the money to buy a PS4 instead. Granted, we got divorced, but we trusted each other even without the symbolic accessory on our fingers.

A PS4? 🤣 That's interesting. I get not wearing rings if that's not what y'all want but PS4 isn't what I expected. I like the idea of a surprise proposal but I do agree you should talk about whether or not you're even on the marriage trail. And discussing rings couldn't hurt either. The actual proposal should be a surprise as far as when and where and how but not the idea that a proposal is impending

We were (well we are still) both gamers and spending $400 on a console made way more sense than spending $1000+ on a useless ring. Dafuq we gonna do with a ring?
