A few months back Hulu took all the food network shows off but added a bunch of other non food network food shows
Umm currently on season 3 of MasterChef which aired in like 2012
There's this one guy on there, Josh, not only the only black person but he's also noticably 7' tall.
Anyway I noticed in one episode Gordan Ramsey goes "ok we're gonna judge the final dish of the round" [paraphrasing] and they didn't call Josh's. So I'm like hmm ok maybe I just didn't notice.
Then the next episode the same thing happened but I was def paying attention so I def like, ok lemme rewind and check. I see them judge every person dish except Josh's.
Earlier in the season I noticed this was the first season they were using social media handles. All their aprons had mc3[name] so when I went to tweet about this I simply tagged his Twitter handle.
I was surprised that he still had that as his Twitter handle this many years later so I clicked his account to see if it was really him. His last tweet was in 2018, then a few in 2017 and 2016.
As I'm looking I realize a lot of them were just links posted from other things and they were all about suicide funds and suicide foundations and preventions so I'm like 😳 noooo way.
I normally try not to Google a show I'm watching (spoilers), but I had to know about this. And it turns out like a year or so after his season aired, he shot himself after a battle with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. My jaw basically hit the floor. I had no idea he was going through those things, he appeared so put together and nice on the show.
I wonder if they purposefully limited his screen time on the show because of that. Apparently a few months before that he has some public incident ranting about Gordan Ramsey which caused him to lose sponsors.
RIP Josh. It feels so strange watching him on this show knowing this information. And I just... happened upon it.
